Looking to elevate your self-care Sunday experience? We’ve got the perfect idea to help you boost your relaxation at home with a mobile sauna rental!
WHAT IS A MOBILE SAUNA?
First and foremost, what is a sauna?
A sauna is a heated, wood-lined room, used for its wellness benefits with either dry (infrared) or wet (steam) heat!
Typically, a sauna is heated to around 150-190° Fahrenheit.
This encourages your body to detoxify and sweat out its build up of toxins. This is known as, “heat bathing.”
A mobile sauna is simply a sauna on wheels!
At present moment, it is winter in Maine and while I’ve been keeping busy inside, I’ve been thinking of ideas as to what I can do outside while awaiting the garden to thaw. With a bit of searching I found a local company who runs a business renting out mobile saunas!
I had a choice of either a wood-fired sauna or a propane-fired sauna and decided to rent the wood-fired sauna.
I’m so glad I did because there is just something oh-so cozy about starting a fire and hearing the crackling burning of the wood.
I even had a few curious neighbors stating they wished they had thought of this idea!
WHY RENT A MOBILE SAUNA?
The history of saunas date back thousands of years, and remain a significant ritual and practice in many cultures for their overall health and wellness purposes.
As we say goodbye to winter (and the winter blues) here in Maine, it seemed fitting to kick off the start of spring with a sauna rental!
Here are just some of the many benefits attributed to saunas:
- Relaxation
- Treat sore muscles
- Improved circulation
It is also important to note you should contact your healthcare provider prior to using a sauna. This is especially true if you have a heart related condition, could be pregnant or have any condition that could be potentially be exacerbated by using a sauna.
HOW OFTEN TO SAUNA?
When I rented the sauna I was told it’s best to allow your body to cool down entirely before starting another session of sauna if you are looking to do multiple in a day.
During our rental, we allowed roughly 20-30 minutes after a sauna session and cold plunge prior to starting another cycle.
BUDGET
Also, it depends on what your budget is when you are looking to rent or own a sauna. Certainly renting a mobile sauna is not the cheapest option if you are looking to try a sauna out for the first time. However, it’s a great idea to rent with friends or family to keep the costs down.
Some people who have a home sauna typically do a sauna session every day!
Here are some great options if you do not have a mobile sauna near you:
- Home portable sauna
- Check out your local spas to see if they offer a sauna treatment
- Steamy hot shower followed by a cold shower!
